About

I am a self-taught artist of Latvian heritage, born in Canada having then lived half my life in the US. From painting, theater set designs to sculptures, art has always been a part of my life. I have exhibited in many different formats and groups over the years.

Some of my greatest influences can be traced to many different cultures such as Japanese mixed media artists of the 80’s and 90’s, minimalist artists like Eva Hesse and Martin Puryear and also the ART BRUT movement.

My latest explorations are trying to distill most basic visual shapes and colors into minimalist yet emotionally charged pieces, by using controlled yet chaotic textural techniques. My end desire is to produce RAW works that actually show a balance of primitivism, elegant simplicity and pleasure.
